Most travelers today like to take their pets with them on vacation.  If you have a vacation rental that you would like to make friendlier for people with pets there are several things that you can do.  The factors to consider include space, a fenced area or a park, play things, food and treats, and much more.

Space is a very important factor when people are traveling with animals.  Their dogs need room to run around and get plenty of exercise. If you have a vacation rental then you want to be sure the rooms that you provide are spacious enough for the animals.  Don’t pack them with small tables and lamps on them that can be knocked over.  Lamps should be placed on nightstands against the wall.  Have the floor space wide open and comfortable for the animals.  Also, be sure there are no cables or cords on the floor for the animals to chew on.

A fenced area or a nearby park is very important for people who travel with their dogs.  To ensure that you have as many guests as possible to your vacation rental you must have an outdoor area for the pets to play.  Dogs need fresh air and the ability to run.  A doggie park is ideal if you have the space in a yard to create one.  If your rental is close to a park that is pet friendly then this may be the catching point for the travelers also.

Play things are important when you have a vacation rental for people who travel with their pets.  It is a good idea that you have plenty of chew toys available for the dogs to play with or chew on.  The last thing you want is a pet that chews up half the room because the travelers didn’t have anything for the dog to chew on.  You can provide chew toys and things for pets.  They are cheap and affordable and will save you a lot of money in damage repairs and a loss of tenants due to the time it takes to repair problems from a dog.

Food and treats are easy to provide for travelers with dogs.  You may offer things for pets at the front desk.  If you offer a mini bar for families inside the vacation rental then you may include dog treats and dog food.  Some rentals provide free treats and dog food inside of the rooms.  This makes it easy for travelers not to have to wonder where to go to get food for their pet and very convenient for them also.

There are many things that you can do to make your vacation rental pet friendly.  It is important to let people know that you allow pets into your establishment.  People that do not travel with pets should be clear that it is okay for others to have them so you do not receive a lot of complaints.  Try to provide enough space for animals inside and out, treats, toys, and more will make the endeavor successful.
