Endless Feast in the City Beautiful – Coral Gables

1 Comment Published by Kenny Doucette November 19th, 2007 in Florida Cities - What 2 See

Coral Gables is best known for its well kept lawns and tree-lined streets. Luckily for me, it's also well known for restaurants.  One of the best places to go in Coral Gables when you're hungry is Miracle Mile. Miracle Mile is only a few blocks long, running from Southwest 37th avenue to Southwest 42nd avenue.  However, restaurants, bars, art galleries, and shops have helped Miracle Mile expand its borders.  Right now, the Mile boasts more than 40 restaurants, ranging in price, ambiance, and offering a broad selection of foods.  If you're hungry, but you don't know what to eat, stop by Miracle Mile, and I guarantee you'll find something you'll like.

In the evenings, many restaurants offer live music.  Tarpon Bend, an excellent, laid-back, seafood restaurant, offers live jazz every Saturday.  They offer the freshest seafood you can find, with dishes like ceviche, Mexican Shrimp Margarita (you eat it, you don't drink it!), and the traditional hamburger.  If German food is more your style, Fritz and Franz Bierhaus has live bands playing Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. As a side note, I just learned yesterday that Fritz and Franz will be presenting the 10th annual Coral Gables Jazz Festival from November 30th to December 2nd.  In the mood for Irish food? Miracle Mile has that, too. John Martin's Irish Pub & Restaurant has live music every week from Thursday to Sunday.  This restaurant is an excellent place to go for happy hour.  They have drink specials that can't be beat, and they play their music loud enough that you can hear it from a block away. John Martin's a great place to order a pint of Guinness and hang out with some friends.
